Hemorrhoids: What NOT To Do

Hemorrhoid treatment  range from herbal home cures to invasive surgery. There are so many different opinions out there it’s hard to know what to do and what not to do, what classifies as Old Wives’s Tale nonsense and what really works. One of the most traditional and easiest solutions for hemorrhoids is the Sitz bath whereby a hemorrhoid sufferer sits in a bath of warm water for 15-20 minutes 3 times a day. Although this method is often the first hemorrhoid treatment suggested, medical doctors question its efficacy. Sitting on a hard surface can do more harm than good for hemorrhoids and the sitting position itself can often lead to additional blood vessel congestion only aggravating the problem. Another popular hemorrhoid treatment is Preparation H. It’s been used for years but it’s only recently shown to have a temporary if any effect at all on hemorrhoids by constricting blood vessels. The best hemorrhoid treatment and the only cure for the condition is a change in a lifestyle.
